Last New Year&#8217;s Day was very quiet, but this New Year&#8217;s Day was somewhat lively. This is because there were many foreign tourists in the parks, caf\u00e9s and restaurants nearby my house. For example, the well-known examples in Japanese are \u2018Hashi&#8217; (chopsticks) and \u2018Hashi&#8217; (bridge). These two words are made up of &#8216;ha&#8217; and &#8216;shi&#8217;, so when written in hiragana they are exactly the same. The way they are pronounced expresses the difference in meaning. If the &#8216;ha&#8217; is pronounced with a higher pitch than the &#8216;shi&#8217;, as in &#8216;Hashi&#8217;, it means &#8216;chopsticks&#8217;. Pronounce it again \u2018Hashi&#8217; (chopsticks). And if you pronounce the &#8216;ha&#8217; lower in pitch than the &#8216;shi&#8217;, as in &#8216;Hashi&#8217;, it means \u2018bridge\u2019. Pronounce it again, \u2018Hashi&#8217; (bridge). Use \u2018Hashi&#8217; (chopsticks) to eat sushi. According to an article I read this morning, Kanshou with other appliances and routers can slow down the internet. \u2018Kanshou&#8217; (Interfere) can mean many things, but here it means two or more signals overlap and cancel each other out.
